We met on April 08, 2006 through a mutual friend at the time who took a group of us to some gothic nightclub in Houston (which is ironic since we both hate nightclubs and would never be caught dead in one). There was no intention of "finding that special someone" that night, but by the end of the evening, we knew there was a special connection between the two of us. We talked all summer about music and officially started dating in September of that year.
The first time Billy came to my house my dad approached him outside and asked, "who are you here to see, my wife or my daughter?". Billy replied, "both?!" Haha, first impressions matter! Our first date was to this little Chinese restaurant in Rosenburg followed by a movie selection at Blockbuster (I do miss blockbuster).
We've spent 18 years together watching each other grow and mature, fall and stumble, stand tall and embrace all the beauty that is in our lives. We've been there together through so many of the milestones - car wrecks, 21st birthdays, college graduations, job promotions, passing of friends and family, life altering situations, and natural disasters. Through all of this we have built a network of friends and family spanning the globe.
I have always loved the Irish/ Scottish tradition where the woman proposes to the man she loves on Lead Day. So, on February 29, 2024, that's exactly what I did. I took Billy to our favorite steakhouse, Pappas Bros. (I highly recommend) and proposed after dinner at the table. He said, "Yes", of course, after a few sarcastic rounds of "really??". And no, I didn't buy him a pretty diamond ring, haha. I did however custom create the proposal artwork on a calcite piece - it was Donkey Kong (video game) jumping through barrels to spell out "will you marry me?".
And the rest is history.
Now I get to marry our best friend and the love of my life. Wish us luck!!
